Facilitating the conducting of the DAT – S (Differential Aptitude Tests Form S) battery of aptitude tests
To assist Grade 9 learners in making their subject choices for Grades 10 to 12, CSA can arrange for the Differential Aptitude Tests (DAT) to be conducted by an independent, registered psychometrist or educational psychologist in private practice as required by the Health Professions Council of South Africa (the HPCSA). The individual reports help learners identify their strongest aptitudes and then to choose their subjects accordingly.
The DAT test results are, at the same time, a valuable and trustworthy instrument to assist school councillors when counselling learners regarding subject choices as well as possible careers to pursue. A further advantage is that all the learners are tested at the same day with all test results available for the school councillors to identify learners who may need counselling.
It is also important to note that wrong subject choices lead to disciplinary problems in class.
Apart from the DAT tests, learners also complete our Career Choice Questionnaire (CCQ). This questionnaire identifies learners’ strongest interests. By combining the DAT and CCQ results learners can combine aptitudes and interests to make even better informed subject choices.
When learners make the right subject choices, develop all study skills and choose the most suitable career, the Sky is the Limit.
